Cocktail Meatballs with Grape Jelly
- add review
- #11277
ingredients
Meatballs
1 pound ground beef
1/2 cup plain bread crumbs
1/3 cup chopped sweet onion
1/4 cup milk or half & half
1 large egg, lightly beaten
1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1/2 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1/4 cup oil, for browning
Sauce
1 bottle (12 ounce size) chili sauce
1 jar (10 ounce size) grape, apple, or other jelly
directions
In a bowl, mix together the ground beef, bread crumbs, onion, milk, egg, parsley, salt, pepper, and Worcestershire sauce. Mix to combine but do not overmix.
Heat the oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Form the meat mixture into 1-inch meatballs. Brown the meatballs, in batches if needed, in the hot oil, turning to brown on all sides.
In another large skillet, combine the chili sauce and jelly over medium heat. Cook, stirring constantly, until the sauce is combined.
Add the browned meatballs to the sauce. Let simmer on medium heat for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally, or until the meatballs are cooked through.
Serve the meatballs hot (in a chafing dish or crock pot).

Ranking #1 in nearly every "favorite cookie" poll, the chocolate chip cookie is pretty much the go-to cookie of choice for both kids and grownups alike.
Ah, the unassuming envelope of onion soup mix. It's more than just for onion soup (or dip). It adds tremendous flavor (and convenience) in all these recipes.

I like this recipe because it gives you instructions on making your own meatballs and not just using frozen ones which contain all kinds of fillers. I've made this with both the grape and apple jelly but I think I prefer the grape. I wouldn't use seafood sauce though because that contains more horseradish doesn't it? That doesn't sound good to me. I use chili sauce although I found with the apple jelly using a combo of chili sauce and ketchup worked best.

My mom has been making meatballs for our family parties for YEARS and everyone devours them, they are always a hit. I now make them for parties and they are still a hit.

I have been making this recipe for years. Every gathering we attend I am asked to bring these meatballs. If you are in a crunch, use Gordon's Premium meatballs - Do not use Italian flavored meatballs if you use the frozen ones. Throw the sauce and meatballs together in a crockpot on low for and hour and you are ready to go.
