Serves/Makes:   1 loaf

  

Ingredients:
3 cups all purpose flour
3 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 cup sugar
12 ounces cold beer or a bit more if needed
1/2 cup margarine or butter melted
1 large egg

Directions:

In a large bowl combine all dry ingredients well. Make a well in the center and pour in the wet ingredients.

With electric mixer beat well into a thick moist batter. Scrape ingredients with spatula into a greased 9 inch loaf pan.

Bake 375F for one hour or tested done with wooden toothpick.

Best served warm or room temperature with softened butter and jam. Note: bread doesn't rise as high as other quick breads
