The name, vodka, comes from the Russian phrase zhiznennaia voda, or "water of life". It can be made from everything from potatoes to beets. It's considered to be fairly flavorless which makes it a great liquor for mixed drinks.

ingredients
1 pound ground beef
4 slices bread
1 onion, minced
1/2 cup fresh parsley, minced
1 egg, well beaten
1 teaspoon dried mint
1 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon black pepper
1 clove garlic, pressed
1 cup flour
1/2 cup oil
directions
Dip bread slices in water. Squeeze out excess water. Mix with all other ingredients except flour and oil. Combine well.
Place flour in a shallow dish. Roll small spoonfuls of mixture into flour until covered on all sides.
Heat oil in a large skillet. Drop meatballs into hot oil and fry until crisp and brown on all sides, about 10-15 minutes.
