Chewy Brownie Cookies

ingredients
2/3 cup shortening
1 1/2 cup packed light brown sugar
1 tablespoon water
2 eggs
3/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1/3 cup cocoa powder
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
directions
Heat oven to 375 degrees F. Place length of foil on flat surface for cooling cookies.
Beat shortening, brown sugar, and water until well blended. Add eggs and vanilla; beat well. Mix flour, cocoa, baking soda and salt; gradually add to sugar mixture until well blended. Stir in chocolate chips.
Drop by rounded tablespoonfuls 2 inches apart. Bake 7 to 9 minutes or until cookies are set. Cookies will appear soft and moist.
Cool 2 minutes; remove from sheet to foil. Cool completely.

This was not only a bland recipe but ir wasn't chewy and it wasn't a dark chocolatey brown. IT was awful. The name inmpies dark brownie like chewy cookie. NOT!

Nice and soft cookie!!! I took it a step further and sprinkled a little powdered sugar to the tops of the cookies! I made them for my husband's poker night with the boys and they loved them!!
