ingredients
2 cups dried navy beans
1 ham bone
2 quarts water
salt and pepper
2 quarts milk
3 tablespoons butter
directions
Soak beans overnight in enough water to cover.
In the morning, drain beans. Add water and ham bone. Cook slowly until meat and beans are soft.
Pick meat from bone. Chop and return to bean mixture. Add milk. Heat thoroughly. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Add butter and serve.
