Basic Chocolate Angel Food Dessert Recipe

Ingredients:
4 squares unsweetened chocolate
1 1/2 cup water
2 envelopes unflavored gelatin, DISSOLVED IN
1/4 cup cold water
6 eggs separated
2/3 cup sugar
1 can (5 1/2 oz. size) chocolate syrup
shaved sweet or milk chocolate
2 cups heavy cream
1 loaf angel food cake
Directions:
Melt unsweetened chocolate, add the water. Stir until smooth. Dissolve gelatin in the cold water. Add to chocolate, stir until dissolved. Cool.
Beat egg yolks until thick. Stir in chocolate mixture. Beat egg whites until foamy. Gradually add sugar, beat until stiff. Fold into chocolate mixture.
Pour this on cake which has been cut into one inch cubes, can tear cake apart. Fold until cake absorbs mixture. Pour into a 9 inch spring form pan, refrigerate until set.
Just before serving unmold, frost with heavy cream whipped stiff into which has been folded chocolate syrup. Sprinkle with shaved chocolate. Keep refrigerated. Cool whip can also be used.
