Serves/Makes: 2 lbs
INGREDIENTS:
2 cups sugar
1 cup firmly packed brown sugar
2 cups heavy cream
1 cup light corn syrup
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup black walnuts
DIRECTIONS:
Combine first 4 ingredients in saucepan. Bring to a boil, stirring constantly, cook until a small amount dropped in water forms a soft ball. Remove from heat. Cool without stirring. Beat until mixture begins to thicken and lose its gloss. Add remaining ingredients. Turn into buttered 8" square pan. Cool.

This recipe in NO way makes fudge. It does make caramel. And not even bad caramel at that, but it does not make anything even closely resembling in look or taste either one fudge. We were SO disappointed - and it is expensive to make as well. Don't make it following directions and waste perfectly good black walnuts.
CDKitchen Note: You don't mention how long you boiled it or if you used a candy thermometer. My hunch is that it didn't boil long enough.
