Southern Ham-Seasoned Green Beans

ingredients
1 1/2 pound green beans, broken into short pieces
OR
2 packages (10 ounce size) frozen cut green beans
2 small onions, quartered
1/2 stalk celery, sliced
2 ounces cooked ham, cut into bite-size pieces
2 teaspoons salt
pepper, to taste
1/2 cup water
1 tablespoon butter or margarine
directions
Place beans in a 2-quart saucepan. Add remaining ingredients and simmer until beans are tender, 12 to 20 minutes. The cook time depends on your desired flavor.
