Ingredients:
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/3 cup cornstarch
2 1/2 cups milk
1 package semisweet chocolate pieces (6 oz.)
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
3 egg yolks, slightly beaten
1 pie shell, baked (9")
2 medium bananas
1/2 cup whipping cream

Directions:

In a medium pan, stir together sugar, salt and cornstarch. Gradually stir in milk. Add chocolate pieces and vanilla. Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring constantly. Continue stirring and boiling 1 minute longer. Remove from heat. Stir a little hot mixture into egg yolk; mix well. Add egg yolk mixture to remaining hot mixture in pan. Stir over low heat 5 minutes or until thickened.

Pour half of mixture into baked pie shell. Peel bananas and slice crosswise. Layer slices over filling in pie shell; cover with remaining filling, spreading evenly. Place wax paper directly on surface of filling. Refrigerate until set 3-4 hours. Before serving, whip cream and use to garnish edge of pie.
