ingredients

1 package saltine crackers
1 cup sugar
1 cup butter
12 ounces chocolate chips

directions

Line a cookie sheet with tin foil. Then place saltine crackers in the pan edge to edge touching each other to fill the pan. Bring 1 cup sugar and 1 cup butter to a boil in small pan. Boil for 3 minutes (stirring constantly). Pour mixture over crackers and bake at 400 degrees for 5 minutes.

Sprinkle 12 ozs chocolate chips over hot crackers and spread when melted. Top with chopped nuts and refrigerate. Then break into small pieces. It's just like toffee!! Store in covered container. (If there is any left to store!)

My family was horrified when I said I was making this same recipe a few years ago, After all I was putting saltines in their toffee? However it is delicious and addicting, we love to sprinkle chopped, roasted walnuts on at the end.
