Chocolate covered cherries are a classic sweet treat. And so easy to make! They are also great for entertaining and gift-giving. Eat them as-is or try topping a decorated cake or cupcake with them.

2 jars (10 ounce size) long stem maraschino cherries
1 package (12 ounce size) semisweet chocolate chips
Drain the cherries well and place the cherries on paper toweling to dry.
Place the chocolate chips in a saucepan over low heat. Cook, stirring constantly, until the chocolate has melted and is smooth. Remove the pan from the heat.
Line a baking sheet or platter with waxed paper.
Holding the cherries by the stem, carefully dip each one in the chocolate, turning to coat it as needed. Place the chocolate covered cherries on the waxed paper. When all the cherries are dipped, place the baking sheet in the refrigerator and refrigerate until the chocolate has set.
Store them in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
