Cake Mix Recipe

Serves/Makes: 6 cakes
Ingredients:
6 cups flour
3 tablespoons baking powder
1 1/2 cup shortening
4 cups sugar
2 teaspoons salt
Directions:
In large bowl combine flour, sugar, baking powder and salt. With pastry blender, cut in shortening until mixture resembles cornmeal. Store in airtight container in cool, dry place.
To use: Makes 1 cake
2 c. cake mix 1 tsp. vanilla 1 egg, slightly beaten 1/2 c. milk
Stir ingredients for cake until well blended. Pour into 8-inch square pan. Bake at 350F for 25 to 30 minutes. For a 9x13-inch baking pan or layer cakes, double the ingredients.
