ingredients
1 package (16 ounce size) hot roll mix with yeast packet
1/2 cup sharp Cheddar cheese, shredded
1 cup hot water (120 degrees F to 130 degrees F)
1 large egg
2 tablespoons butter, softened
1 large egg, slightly beaten
Optional Toppings
Kosher salt
sesame seeds
poppy seeds

In a large bowl combine the hot roll mix, yeast, and cheese. Next, add the water, 1 egg and butter. Stir the mixture until well blended.
Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead for 5 minutes or until smooth. Cover the dough and let rest for 5 minutes.
Cut the dough into equal pieces, then roll each piece on a lightly floured surface to a 9-inch rope. Twist into a pretzel shape.
Place on a lightly greased baking pan. Brush with the beaten egg and then sprinkle with the salt, sesame seeds, or poppy seeds if desired.
Bake at 400 degrees F for 12 to 14 minutes or until golden brown. Serve warm.
