Grilled Sirloin Salad

1/2 cup soy sauce
6 tablespoons sugar
1 tablespoon peeled, finely grated ginger root
1 tablespoon minced garlic
1 pound New York Strip steak, 1 inch thick
8 cups mixed greens (radicchio, Boston, and/or red leaf lettuce)
1/4 English cucumber, julienned
1 cup thinly sliced red onion
1/4 cup soy sauce
2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
2 teaspoons minced jalapeno pepper
2 tablespoons peanut oil
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 teaspoon black sesame seeds
12 fresh cilantro sprigs
In shallow dish, combine 1/2 cup soy sauce, sugar, ginger and garlic. Stir to dissolve sugar. Add steak, turn to coat, cover, and marinate in refrigerator 2 hours. Turn occasionally.
Preheat grill to high. In large bowl, combine greens, cucumber, and red onion. In small bowl, combine 1/4 cup soy sauce, lemon juice, and jalapeno. Gradually whisk in peanut oil and olive oil. Grill steak about 3 min. per side for rare or to desired degree of doneness. Remove from grill and slice thinly across grain.
Toss greens with dressing and divide among individual salad plates.
Arrange one quarter of the steak on each plate of greens. Sprinkle with sesame seeds and garnish with cilantro sprigs.
