2 ounces dark rum (try Prussers for a genuine taste of "The Andrew")
1 cube sugar
1 inch cinnamon stick
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1 slice lemon
Place all ingredients except boiling water in an 8-oz mug. Stir to dissolve the sugar, leaving the spoon in the mug. Pour in boiling water to fill and stir.

Oct 6, 2006 Naval Historian This is NOT grog. Grog is very simple & better. Unless the mixture blends, hot is NOT the way to go. Here's the recipe for grog, as Vernon made it in 1740:
4 oz rum
qt cold water
2 tbs lime [or lemon] juice
2 tbs sugar
combine. Long live ye Grog! Oh, and a little spice in it is good, too.
