The only thing I did differently was to use fresh mushrooms instead of canned because I had them on hand and wanted to use them up (which is how I came across this recipe in the first place). The recipe turned out quite good. It's a simple dish of course, but that was all I wanted.

I took a chance on this recipe today and I am very pleased. My entire family which is 5 all together, loved this dish. Very easy to make, I made double so it took an extra 40 minutes. I did do one thing different though. I boiled cabbage and separated it, so I had long leaves. When the meat and rice was done I wrapped it in cabbage and topped it of with cheese. Don't get me wrong it is good by itself, I just wanted some cabbage.
In Italian, orzo means "barley". It's a small, rice shaped pasta typically made from semolina. It is commonly found in soups or salads but it's grown in popularity and uses over the last few years so you often see it used more like rice such as in risotto or pilafs.
