Green Split Pea Soup With Ham

ingredients
1 ham hock
7 1/2 cups water
2 1/4 cups split peas
1 cup onion, chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
1/2 teaspoon dried thyme, crushed
1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
1/4 teaspoon ground allspice
directions
Cook ham hock with water in a Dutch oven, for 1 hour or until meat is tender.
Remove ham bone and chop meat; keeping the stock in Dutch oven. Add meat and remaining ingredients to stock. Cover and simmer for 40 minutes or until desired consistency.
Season with salt and pepper.
