Nevada Baked Steak Recipe

Serves/Makes: 6
Ingredients:
2 pounds round steak, cut 1" thick
1/2 teaspoon salt, more to taste
1 dash pepper, more to taste
1 can (6 oz size) tomato paste
1 teaspoon Worcestershire
1 1/2 cup water
1 bay leaf
1 1/4 teaspoon thyme
1/4 cup vinegar
1 clove garlic
1/4 cup flour
3 tablespoons oil
1 large onion, sliced and separated into rings
1 green pepper, sliced in rings
Directions:
Trim fat from steak. Cut into serving pieces. Place in shallow dish or pan.
Mix salt, pepper, tomato paste, Worcestershire, water, bay leaf, thyme and vinegar. Pour over meat. Refrigerate overnight.
Remove from refrigerator; drain sauce from meat. Reserve.
Rub meat with garlic clove. Sprinkle meat with salt and pepper. Pound flour into meat with mallet.
Heat oil in skillet over medium heat. Add meat. Cook until brown. Place meat in baking dish.
Drain oil from skillet and add reserved sauce. Heat. Arrange sliced onion rings and green pepper rings on top of meat. Pour hot sauce over all. Cover tightly.
Bake in 350 oven for 1 1/2 to 2 hours.
