1 ham bone (with small amount ham still on) 2 cups navy beans or mixed beans 8 cups water 1 clove garlic, minced 1 tablespoon lemon juice 1 tablespoon honey 1 bay leaf 1 large onion, chopped salt and pepper, to taste
Wash beans. Put everything in crock pot along with ham bone. Start cooking at high and after it starts cooking, turn to simmer. I usually remove the bone in the early morning and add more water. Remove bay leaf before serving.
