Palouse Soup Mix Recipe

Ingredients:
16 ounces pkg green split peas
16 ounces pkg lentils
16 ounces pkg pearl barley
8 ounces pkg macaroni
OR
2 cups brown rice
1/2 cup celery flakes
1/2 cup parsley flakes
1/2 teaspoon thyme
1/2 teaspoon white pepper
Directions:
Mix all ingredients together. Store in a jar with a tight fitting lid. Stir before using.
To give as a gift. Present these instructions on a nice card: Combine 1 cup of soup mix with 4 cups of water or seasoned stock in a large pan. Add 1 cup of cooked chopped meat, if desired. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat to low and cover pan. Simmer gently for 45 to 50 minutes, or until peas are tender. Add 1/2 teaspoon of salt if desired.
