ingredients

3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup Swiss cheese, shredded
2 tablespoons granulated sugar
1 tablespoon baking powder
1 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
1 1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
2 cups beer
1/4 cup vegetable oil

directions

Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. Grease a 9- x 5-inch loaf pan. Dust with flour and tap out excess.

Mix together flour, Swiss cheese, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, oregano, salt and red pepper flakes.

Mix together beer and oil.

Make a well in the center of flour mixture. Add beer mixture all at once to well, tossing with a fork until dry ingredients are just moistened (Batter will be lumpy). Spread batter in prepared pan and smooth top.

Bake loaf until golden and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean, 50 to 55 minutes. Transfer pan to a wire rack to cool for 15 minutes.

Loosen bread by running a metal spatula around sides of pan. Turn loaf out onto rack to cool completely.
