The name, vodka, comes from the Russian phrase zhiznennaia voda, or "water of life". It can be made from everything from potatoes to beets. It's considered to be fairly flavorless which makes it a great liquor for mixed drinks.

I am very sorry to say that this is the most LACKING "from scratch pumkin pie recipe that I have ever seen. The author sompletely left out instructions on how to make the pastry, and how to get the pumkin from the fresh state, to the mashable state. Anyone using this recipe for the sake of making it from scratch for the first time, I'm sure will be frustratd and dissapointed.
I believe the author assumes you are either using a purchased unbaked pie pastry or using your favorite recipe (hence the reference to preparing as directed). The pumpkin information does leave a little to be desired I agree, but I noticed the other day the sugar pumpkins in the store had cooking directions stuck to them so perhaps the author's experience had been in using produce that contained similar instructions and didn't think to include them.
