Apple Cream Cake

1 package (18.25 ounce size) yellow cake mix, plus ingredients to prepare
3 cups sliced peeled tart apples
1/2 cup chopped walnuts
1/4 cup sugar
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 cup whipping cream
whipped cream or vanilla ice cream, optional
Prepare cake batter according to package directions; pour into greased 9X13 baking dish. Combine apples, nuts, sugar and cinnamon; spoon over batter. Pour cream over top. Bake at 350 degrees for 60-70 minutes or until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean. Serve with whipped cream or ice cream if desired.

I didn't even use whip cream or ice cream and this was still incredibly delicious and ridiculously easy. The cake will feel like something special to guests when you really know how simple it was! Our guests loved it!

I was looking for a quick "apple
dessert" and this was it!
I substituted the yellow cake mix with spice cake mix and used pecans instead of walnuts.
I put a dollop of fresh whipped cream on each slice. It was delicious and had many wanting the recipe. Thanks!!
