Old-Fashioned Blackberry Pie

2 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
1 1/2 cup cake flour
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1 1/2 cup buttermilk at room temperature
1 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon salt
4 cups fresh blackberries
Melt butter in a glass square baking dish. Combine flour, sugar, baking powder, cinnamon and salt. Add buttermilk and stir until moistened. Spoon the blackberries over the batter. Do not stir.
Bake in 325 degrees F oven for 45 minutes. Serve warm with whipped cream.
