Spaghetti Pie Recipe

Ingredients:
***Base Layer***
8 ounces spaghetti (broken into 1-2 inch pieces)
2 tablespoons butter
1/3 cup Parmesan cheese
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1 egg, beaten
1 cup cottage cheese
***Meat Sauce***
1 1/2 pound hamburger, browned
1/2 cup onion, minced
1/4 cup green pepper, minced
2 cloves garlic, minced
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
1 can (15 1/2 oz size) tomato sauce (may substitute prepared spaghetti sauce)
1 tablespoon sugar
1/2 teaspoon oregano
1/2 teaspoon salt (for sauce)
***Topping***
4 ounces Mozzarella cheese
Directions:
Cook spaghetti and drain. Stir in butter, Parmesan cheese, salt, pepper and egg until combined. Pour into a greased 9 x 13 inch pan. Spread cottage cheese over spaghetti.
Brown hamburger, onion, green pepper, & garlic in oil until meat is browned. Drain and stir in tomato sauce, sugar, oregano and salt. Pour over spaghetti/cottage cheese layer.
Bake at 350 degrees F for 30 minutes. Sprinkle Mozzarella cheese over meat and bake 10 minutes longer or until cheese is melted. Let stand a few minutes before cutting.
