Ten-Minute Mac and Cheese Recipe

Ingredients:
1/2 pound penne or shells (or elbows)
2 cups whole milk
15 slices American cheese, broken into small pieces
5 teaspoons cornstarch
2 tablespoons warm water
1/4 cup toasted bread crumbs

Directions:

Bring 4 quarts of water to a boil over high heat. Add pasta and cook al dente, 10 to 13 minutes.

Meanwhile, in a large saucepan over medium-high heat, bring milk to a boil. Whisk in the cheese, lower heat to medium and cook until completely melted.

In a small bowl or cup, dissolve cornstarch in water and whisk into the milk mixture. Raise heat to medium-high and bring mixture to a boil, whisking occasionally. Remove from heat and continue whisking until thickened slightly.

When pasta is cooked, drain it well and pour into the pot with the sauce, stirring to combine.

Divide among serving bowls, sprinkle with toasted bread crumbs and serve.
