Candy Cane White Hot Chocolate

ingredients
1/2 gallon milk
6 ounces white chocolate (Lindt or Baker preferred), chopped
1/3 cup crushed red and white candy canes
1 pinch salt
1/2 cup peppermint schnapps, optional
whipped cream
additional red and white candy canes for use as stirrers (optional)
directions
Bring milk to simmer in heavy medium saucepan.
Reduce heat to medium low. Add chopped white chocolate, crushed candy and salt; whisk until smooth. Add schnapps, if desired.
Ladle hot chocolate into mugs, dividing equally. Top with whipped cream and garnish with additional candy.
