ingredients
1 package (14 ounce size) caramels
3/4 cup butter
1 package chocolate or German chocolate cake mix
1 cup chopped pecans
1 can sweetened condensed milk
1 package (12 ounce size) chocolate chips
directions
Melt caramels with half of the sweetened condensed milk (in the microwave is fine). Mix melted butter, remaining sweetened condensed milk, cake mix (dry) and half of the nuts together.
Place half of batter in a greased 9" x 13" pan and bake at 350 degrees F for 6 minutes.
Spread 1 cup of chocolate chips over top, then the rest of the nuts and the caramel mixture over the nuts. Press remaining batter between hands and place over the caramel.
Sprinkle the remaining chocolate chips over the top and bake for 15 minutes more.

Pumpkins aren't just for pies or Halloween decorations. These large, orange gourds - while naturally sweet - also work well in savory dishes. They pair well with poultry and pork (and especially bacon) and their creamy-when-cooked texture blends easily into soups.
