ingredients

1/2 cup brown sugar
1 tablespoon cornstarch
1/3 cup red wine vinegar
1/3 cup frozen orange-pineapple juice from concentrate
1 tablespoon soy sauce
1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder

directions

Combine the brown sugar and cornstarch in a saucepan. Stir in the vinegar, juice, and soy sauce. Add the ginger and garlic powder.

Heat over medium heat, stirring constantly, until it is thick and bubbling. Set aside to cool.

This is a wonderful sauce that will make any meal seem like you went all out! Pour over meatballs, chicken strips or breaded pork, or use as a dunking sauce.
I used just pineapple juice in the recipe for sweet and sour meatballs for a luau party. Perfect!

I went looking for an "Orange Chicken" type sauce and definately found it...I loved it, the perfect amount of juice/sugar for the sweet and also nicely sour. I am definately making this again. One thing I did was add a teaspoon of crushed red pepper (to a double batch) for a little "kick" at the end :)
