
Dr Pepper Spaghetti

2 pounds lean ground beef
1 cup chopped onion
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon dried Italian seasoning
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1 can (12 ounce size) Dr Pepper
2 cans (8 ounce size) tomato sauce
2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
1 package (16 ounce size) spaghetti pasta
1 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
Cook the pasta in boiling water as directed on the package. Drain well.
Meanwhile, brown the ground beef in a deep skillet or large saucepan. Cook, stirring frequently, until the beef is no longer pink. Drain off any excess grease.
Add the onion, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper to the skillet. Cook, stirring frequently, for 5 minutes or until the onion has softened.
Add the Dr Pepper, tomato sauce, and Worcestershire sauce to the beef mixture. Cook, stirring occasionally, for 5 more minutes.
Add the cooked pasta to the spaghetti sauce. Mix well. Stir in the mozzarella cheese. Transfer the mixture to the greased baking dish. Place in the oven and bake at 350 degrees F for 20 minutes or until heated through.
Garnish individual servings with additional shredded cheese if desired.
This recipe freezes well. Let thaw then bake as directed.
