
Almond Asparagus

1 1/2 pound fresh asparagus
1/3 cup slivered almonds
1 tablespoon salad oil
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon black pepper
1 pinch sugar
1 dash ground ginger
Break or cut off woody ends of asparagus spears; slice asparagus diagonally to get pieces about 1-1/2" long. Saute almonds in oil until light golden in medium skillet; add asparagus, salt, pepper, sugar and ginger. Cover, turn heat to high and cook over medium-high heat, shaking pan to prevent sticking or burning. Cook just until asparagus is fork-tender, about 5 minutes. Don't overcook. Serve promptly.
