Ingredients: 4 cube steaks 4 tablespoons fat 2 medium onions, sliced 1 pound mushrooms, sliced 1 can cream of mushroom soup 2/3 cup buttermilk 1 teaspoon salt 1/4 teaspoon black pepper 4 medium potatoes, sliced
Directions: Brown steaks in hot fat; remove from pan. Saute onion and mushrooms until tender. Drain steaks, onions and mushroom on absorbent paper.
Combine soup, buttermilk and seasonings.
Place alternate layers of potatoes, onions, mushroom slices and steaks in 2 1/2 qt. greased casserole. Pour a little soup mixture on each layer.
Bake, uncovered, at 350 degrees F for 1 hour.
