Serves/Makes: 8 | Ready In: < 30 minutes
1/4 cup dry minced onion
1/4 cup hot water
2 pounds lean ground beef
3 ounces jar strained beef baby food
2/3 cup clear beef broth
8 hot dog buns
16 dill pickle chips
mustard
ketchup, optional
Combine the dry onions and hot water in a bowl. Let soften.
In another bowl, combine the ground beef, beef baby food, and broth. Mix just to combine.
Heat some oil on a griddle or in a large, flat skillet. Form the beef mixture into square patties 1/4-inch thick. Cook on one side on the griddle until browned. Poke holes in the patties with the end of a wooden spoon while cooking.
Before turning the patties over, add 1 tsp of the onions on the grill for each patty. Flip each patty over onto a pile of the onions. Cook until browned and cooked through (they will cook faster than regular burgers because of the holes).
Cut the hot dog buns in half and remove the rounded ends. Place each cooked beef patty onto a bun and top with 2 pickle chips and mustard, and if desired, ketchup.
