Serves/Makes: 54 | Ready In: < 30 minutes
1 cup smooth peanut butter, slightly warmed if very thick
2 eggs
1/3 cup water
1 box (15-18 ounce size) chocolate cake mix
M&Ms candy coated plain milk chocolate candy pieces, (red, yellow, or green colored)
red hot candies
Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F.
Combine the peanut butter, eggs, and water in a mixing bowl. Beat on low speed with an electric mixer until well blended, scraping down the sides of the bowl as needed.
With the mixer running on low speed, slowly add the cake mix. Mix until combined.
Form the dough into 1-inch balls and place on an ungreased baking sheet, about 2 inches apart.
Lightly flatten each ball with the bottom of a glass that has been greased or dipped in sugar. Using your fingers, gently pinch the tops of the cookies to form ears.
Add M&Ms as eyes and red hots for the nose. Gently press a fork into the cookie dough to form whiskers on each side of the red hot noses.
Place the black cat cookies in the oven and bake at 375 degrees F for 8-10 minutes or until just set. Let cool for 5 minutes on the baking sheet then transfer the cookies to a wire rack to cool completely. Store the Halloween cookies in an airtight container.
