El Pollo Loco Black Beans

Ingredients:
1 1/2 tablespoon bacon grease or oil
1 small onion, diced
1 small yellow bell pepper, seeded and diced
1/2 teaspoon minced garlic
2 pounds canned black beans, rinsed and drained
1 cup barbecue sauce
1/4 teaspoon liquid smoke
2 tablespoons canned chipotle chiles in adobo sauce, or more to taste (optional)

Directions:
Heat the bacon grease in a saucepan over medium heat. Add the onion, bell pepper, and garlic. Cook, stirring frequently, until the vegetables are soft.

Add the black beans, barbecue sauce, liquid smoke, and chipotle chiles. Mix well. Adjust the heat so the beans are at a low simmer. Let cook for 20-30 minutes, stirring occassionally, or until heated through.
