Caramel Walnut Cake Mix Brownies
CDKitchen https://www.cdkitchen.com
Serves/Makes: 9    |   Ready In: 1-2 hrs

Ingredients:
1 package (14 ounce size) caramels, unwrapped
2/3 cup evaporated milk, divided
1 box chocolate cake mix
3/4 cup butter, melted and cooled
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
3/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 1/2 cup chopped walnuts

Directions:
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Grease a 9x9 baking dish.

Place the unwrapped caramels and half of the evaporated milk in a saucepan over low heat. Cook, stirring frequently, until the caramels have melted. Remove the pan from the heat and set aside.

In a bowl, combine the remaining evaporated milk, cake mix, melted butter, vanilla, and cinnamon. Mix until just combined. Spread half of the batter in the prepared baking dish. Place the remaining batter in the refrigerator.

Place the baking dish in the oven and bake at 350 degrees F for 10 minutes. Remove from the oven and let the pan cool on a wire rack for 5 minutes.

Pour the caramel mixture over the warm brownie and spread it evenly. Sprinkle the caramel layer evenly with the walnuts.

Pat out the chilled dough into equal thickness in a 9x9 square. Place over the caramel and walnuts and press gently to seal it.

Place the baking dish back in the oven and bake at 350 degrees F for 25 minutes. Remove the brownies from the oven and place the pan on a wire rack until cooled completely. Cover the pan and place in the refrigerator for 1-2 hours to chill. Cut into squares when chilled.
