Try this unique margarita recipe that's made with a floral syrup from dried hibiscus flowers. The sweet syrup replaces the orange liqueur used in traditional recipes.

ingredients
Hibiscus Syrup
1/2 liter dried hibiscus flowers
1 liter water
1/4 liter sugar
Hibiscus Margarita
1 1/2 ounce white tequila
1 1/2 ounce sour mix
1 ounce hibiscus syrup (from recipe above)

For the Hibiscus Syrup: Boil hibiscus and water for 25 to 30 minutes. Strain with a sieve and puree the remaining flowers. Add the flower puree and sugar into the liquid and strain with a fine sieve.
For the Hibiscus Margarita: Add the tequila, sour mix, required measure of hibiscus syrup and ice to a shaker. Shake and pour into a rocks glass.
Garnish with dried hibiscus petals.

What is the conversion from liters to ounces for dry hibiscus flowers?
Where can one buy dried hibiscus flowers? I've seen some dried flowers in the gourmet section of my store but not hibiscus. Could I substitute something else?
