3 Layer Brown Stone Mountain Cake With Icing

ingredients
1 cup margarine
2 cups sugar
3 eggs
3 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
4 tablespoons cocoa powder (heaping)
1 cup hot water
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup buttermilk
Icing
1 cup margarine
2 cups sugar
1 cup evaporated milk
directions
Mix cocoa with 1 cup of hot water and set aside.
Cream margarine and sugar; add eggs, one at time and beat well after each.
Sift together flour, soda, baking powder and salt; add alternately with buttermilk to creamed mixture. Add cocoa mixture and vanilla.
Bake in three 9" greased and floured cake pans or a sheet cake pan at 350 degrees F for 25 to 30 minutes, or until cake tests done. Remove from oven. If baking in layers, let sit in pans for about 5 minutes, then invert pans to remove cake.
Combine ingredients for icing. Mix together and cook, stirring constantly until thickened. Will ice 3 layer cake or sheet cake.
