A vibrant blend of tomatoes and tomatillos, seasoned boldly with cumin and peppercorns, results in a comforting Guatemalan Soup.

5 whole black peppercorns
5 cumin seeds
1 whole clove
6 tomatoes
6 raw tomatillos (husk tomatoes)
coriander, well ground
1 cup rice, uncooked
3 cups meat broth
