Creamy French Dressing

- #27447
A creamier version of the usual tangy French salad dressing. Delicious on lettuce greens or try it as a dipping sauce for French fries or other fried foods.
ingredients
1/3 cup salad oil
1/4 cup ketchup
1/4 cup mayonnaise or salad dressing
3 tablespoons cider vinegar
1 teaspoon sugar
1/2 teaspoon paprika
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
directions
Combine all the ingredients in a blender and process until well mixed.
Use the salad dressing immediately or place in a covered container and store in the refrigerator for up to 1 week. Mix well before using as the oil may separate.
nutrition data
Not to be confused with evaporated milk, sweetened condensed milk is very sweet (and very sticky) and used primarily in desserts.
Beer makes batters better, meat more tender, and sauces more flavorful.

I usually find french dressing too strong. This was a nice compromise. Had the french dressing flavor without being overpowering.

My grocery store stopped carrying my favorite brand of french salad dressing so I decided to try making my own. So glad I did because this recipe tastes even better! I used low fat Duke's mayo in it to save on a few calories (and Duke's doesn't have sugar in it and has better flavor than that "other" brand). I will be making this again, thank you!

Among other things, I do not eat any animal/animal byproduct or sugar. I have yet to find a French dressing with appropriate ingredients for me. I needed French dressing as an ingredient in another recipe so hunted for how to make it myself. I used this recipe but changed a few things. I used a natural organic ketchup made with agave syrup, not sugar. I used non dairy mayonnaise. And I used 1 tsp. of agave syrup instead of sugar. I did not add the 1/4 tsp. salt. This dressing was fabulous and worked perfectly in my bean salad recipe. It would be great on salads too.
