A can of cream of mushroom soup can be a real dinner saver. It works great in casseroles and can turn into a sauce or gravy in a pinch.

ingredients
1 cup all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons cocoa powder
2/3 cup sugar
1/2 cup milk
1/2 cup nuts, chopped
2 tablespoons butter, melted
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Topping
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup sugar
3 tablespoons cocoa powder
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 cup boiling water
whipped cream
directions
Sift flour, baking powder, salt, cocoa and sugar together in a bowl. Blend in the milk, chopped nuts, butter and vanilla. Pour into a greased 1-quart casserole.
For Topping: Mix the brown sugar and white sugar with the cocoa, vanilla and salt. Spread this evenly over the batter and pour the boiling water over all. Do not stir.
Bake in 350 degrees F oven for an hour (Cover the casserole during the last half hour). Serve hot or cold, with or without whipped cream.
