Chicken or Shrimp Curry

ingredients
4 pounds chicken parts, deboned and chopped into bite-sized pieces
OR
2 1/2 pounds peeled and deveined medium shrimp
2 teaspoons fresh ginger root, peeled and finely chopped
1 teaspoon turmeric powder
1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1 teaspoon cumin
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon paprika
1 teaspoon garam masala
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup plain yogurt
3 tablespoons oil
2 medium onions, chopped
1/2 cup water
directions
In a large bowl, marinate chicken (or shrimp) with all the spices and yogurt for 15 minutes.
In a deep pan, heat the oil, add the onions and saute for 3 minutes. Add chicken and fry for 15 minutes, stirring frequently.
Add water. Cover and simmer for 25 minutes. (If using shrimp, reduce total cooking time to 8 minutes.)

Very good! The yogurt adds a tang. I used a hot curry blend instead of the paprika (didn't have any), but I think it added a nice burn to the tongue.
