| What does PLUS mean in a recipe? There is an ingredient that is 1 cup flour PLUS and I don't know what the PLUS is for | ||||
Look at the ingredient on the next line. More than likely it is the same ingredient just in a different measurement such as:
1 cup flour PLUS 1 tablespoon flour This is either for an unusual measurement, or for a divided use of the ingredient (such as 1 cup being used in one part of the recipe and 1 tablespoon being used in another part of the recipe). You may also see MINUS used, such as: 1 cup flour MINUS 1 tablespoon flour This is equivalent to the term "scant", or less the ingredient on the second line. Last updated: 21 Nov, 2006
